This page contains a few shots of my recent purchase - A 1996 Mazda MX6 GT 2.5L
V6
When purchased she had 75'000 miles on the clock and two former owners -
plus that all important full Mazda service history.
She is a completely standard UK model in noble green (metallic blue) with the additions of Leather Trim
and Air-Conditioning
I plan to add pictures and info on the jobs in progress and update as and
when. For now though here's just a few pics
Thanks again to all at www.mx6.com - an
amazing wealth of info for these cars and a friendly lot too
(CLICK ON THE PICTURES BELOW TO ENLARGE)
Other pictures taken after her first clean - plenty more to do

The old blown and rusty standard rear exhaust box

and the new Scorpion rear box that replaced it

Note: It was a standard swap but the front scorpion support bar had to be bent to
reach the rubber mount - plus the old bolts had to be "warmed up" with a gas torch
Here is a short Zipped MP3 of the exhaust through the first 3 gears - SCORPION
- if it doesn't download right click and select save as to save to desktop then
unzip it
This was taken from within the car with the mic stuffed in the sun visor and
the windows down hence a bit
of wind noise but it was the first go with the minidisk recorder. Will make a
better attempt at this soon hopefully using all the gears ;o)
The Engine bay before any cleaning - saving this job till after the service stuff
is done - that's my excuse anyway

The broken fog light lens - awaiting a replacement from a breakers as Mazda
want £90!
and the small crack on the front bumper - obviously had a tap on this corner at some
point
and the chips to the drivers door - touch up paint needed me thinks

The water stains on the roof lining from the sunroof/windscreen seal leak

After removing the roof lining I was able to check the 4 sunroof drain hoses
which were all clear

It turned out to be the seal around the rear windscreen where it joined the
roof gutter
The fix involved removing the rear window seal completely, cleaning all the
old sealant and crud out and refitting the seal with new black auto sealant. I
also ran a bead around the inside of the glass as well inside the cabin just to
make sure. This turned out to be a very messy and fiddly job but seems to have
solved the leak.
My tip: make sure you clean all the excess sealant off while its still
fresh. My plan was to simply peel the excess off the paint and glass once it had
set the following day and I'm still trying to get it all off now.
The interior as purchased before a bit of cleaning, another job on the
list
The rear end - just decided to take a couple of shots while she was up on the lift
getting the exhaust done - shows the
droplinks etc
Coming soon:
Details on the 72000 service stuff, results trying to fix the roof leak, CAI
fitting if I get one soon?,
updates after a bit of cleaning and TLC and plenty of
other stuff as and when.
